What’s Happening

After a long and sometimes fraught summer break we are back where it always begins, as a new season beckons, but somehow this one feels different. Is there an even bigger sense of expectation this year?
With us twice breaking our transfer record to bring in Paulinho and then Soldado, with us somehow – for the moment at least – retaining the services of our talisman from last year, with us seeing the return from long term injury of fan´s favourite´s Kaboul and Sandro, the team, and indeed the squad as whole, has a new look, a new depth of character.
If and when we can strip out those few players deemed surplus to requirements there will be room for a few more additions, possibly even another new record signing up front, as well as extra cover at the back but things are looking very postive indeed. Especially when you read headlines suggesting that Lewis has told Levy to “Spend, Spend, Spend”.
But how will it pan out on the pitch?
Only time will tell and that time fast approaches – 2,30pm Sunday – and a short trip to “souff” London to take on Premiership newbies “QuePasa”.
Why have I nicknamed them “QuePasa”? I hail from “souff” London (and actually owned a property barely 400 yards from the old Selhurst Park many years ago) and one of the favourite sayings of the day was “Wazzup?” meaning “Whats happening?” which as anyone who has a modicum of Spanish translates as “Que Pasa” which co-incidentally is the name of the bar in Villamartin Plaza which hosts the Crystal Palace fan base (3 men and a dog) over here.
So. once we have beaten the upstarts from the Championship we can all descend on Que Pasa and have a good laugh at their expense – especially as they are intending on having a party come what may.
In the meantime, match is being shown live at both La Mariposa and Moores Bar – remember 2,30 kick off Spanish time on Sunday.
