Welcome to Spurs Supporters Spain
It all started in 1882 when a group of London grammar schoolboys who played for the same cricket club, decided to start a football team based at a pub in Tottenham High Road. That pub was named after a famous character from Shakespearean times – Sir William Percy – better known as Harry Hotspur, and within a few years the football club was known as Tottenham Hotspur.
Whilst the club´s name has not changed and it´s stadium near the original site of the pub has barely moved, a lot has happened over the ensuring 130 years or so. With in excess of a million recognised fans around the world, supporters get together wherever and whenever they can to get a glimpse of their favourite team on the TV.
One such group began meeting in 2010 at Moores Bar in Cabo Roig on the Costa Blanca in southern Spain and by 2011 application had been made to THFC for recognition as the first – and currently still the only – Official Supporters Club on the Iberian peninsular. That recognition was subsequently achieved and Spurs Supporters Spain was born.
There are now two venues in southern Spain affiliated to Spurs Supporters Spain, Moores Bar and La Mariposa, both showing every game on television, in addition to which the club has previously organised trips to away games including the Champions League fixture in Madrid and the pre-season friendly in Valencia. Whenever other “local” fixtures present themselves we will endeavour to arrange further trips.
